Dear Knowledge seeker,

I have been always wondering why I forgot my math course? why can’t I just whisper to my brain and boom every information is here?

I was afraid if I am having Alzheimer’s at an early age, and I started eating dry fruits, and some magical receipts made by my mom but in vain. So, I needed to go back to science, and after some research, I found out that the answer to all these wonders was easy, and it is manifested in psychology as “The forgetting curve.

Basically, the Forgetting Curve is a visual representation of the way that learned information fades over time. After deep research, I found out that when learning something new and not practicing it often you will remember less and less of it as the hours, days, and weeks go by.

Besides, It’s easier to remember things that have meaning for example I am a business student if I am listening to how to make a pigtail for a baby, I am 100% that I won’t give a sh*t and these kinds of conversations won’t even be stuck in my mind. So, it is better to engage yourself in dialogues that interest you.

Two main important things to mention also, The way something is presented, and How you feel at that moment affect learning. Something that is presented in a simple and obvious way will take you more time to forget, added to that the way you feel at that moment differ, being stressed is completely the opposite when being happy and relaxed.

Dear reader if you made it till here then I want to congratulate you, you are in the process of having a dolphin memory, and you are seeking solutions. Surprise, I have them.

First, Use “Spaced Learning”, the technique is so simple, every period of time you review what you have learned. For instance, every subject, or skill I learn I review it the next day, thus will decrease the rate at which I forget it! and keep my mind FRESH!

The second technique is overlearning, overlearning is putting more effort and concentration into the thing that you are learning, and by using some memory strategies ( You can learn more here https://www.mindtools.com/memory.html ) you will have higher chances of retaining hard-to-learn information.

Last but not least, Keep Challenging Your Memory, if you encountered difficulties and you found yourself in a loop, well, don’t stress yourself!

I have been there one day (Baccalaureate exam ‘Boo’), my mind was stuck and I could not remember anything, but I was ready to challenge my mind and squeeze it till I have my answers, guess what I did it, and I am here giving you advice. When you encounter this situation, say to yourself I am in the right spot to challenge my mind, and it is the most productive time for “Stretching your recall “. learning at this point will be much better because of the mental effort involved.

In nutshell, Having a dolphin memory won’t be easy but I guarantee to you that it is much better than having a fish one. So, take note, and happy learning !!
